Markets are a sea of red once again as inflation anxieties sparked another sell-off Thursday.
ADP Research dropped its latest private-sector employment figures, citing a larger-than-expected increase of 235,000 jobs added in December.
The news sent stocks reeling on Wall Street as traders worry a strong labor market could add fuel to the Federal Reserve’s already hawkish agenda.
As a result, we’re seeing an increase of bearish activity in the options market — particularly in retail names.
We’re due to see official holiday sales figures soon, so this could be hedging… But they’re massive downside bets.
Among the stocks seeing outsized orders is Urban Outfitters, whose shares dropped more than 4.5% after analysts at UBS lowered the company’s price target to $23.
Less than an hour into the open, my scanners spotted one institutional trader sweep up more than 2,400 contracts of the Jan. 13 expiration, $25 strike puts for more than $300,000 in premium!
And if URBN isn’t your fit, I have more top trades on brand-name retailers you can try on for size…
- American Eagle Outfitters, Inc. (NYSE: AEO): Jan. 13, $15 PUT.
- Macy’s Inc. (NYSE: M): Jan. 13, $20 PUT.
- Urban Outfitters Inc. (Nasdaq: URBN): Jan. 13, $25 CALL.
- Netflix Inc. (Nasdaq: NFLX): Jan. 13, $310 PUT.

P.S. Don’t Buy or Sell Another Stock Without Seeing This First
I’m about to expose my favorite trading tool I’ve ever come across…
A tool that can be used by traders and investors of all skill levels…
It’s something I think could influence retail trading in a big way!
And it has nothing to do with stock scanners, order flow, technicals, tech stocks, crypto or anything like that.
In fact, it all boils down to a single indicator…
And what this indicator is showing me is alarming…
Let Me Show You How to Use It…
